Robert Lüscher

Manager of GIS Development GE Grid GmbH

Robert Lüscher was born in Menziken, Switzerland on January 15, 1970. He graduated from University of Applied Sciences North-Western Switzerland in 1993 in Electrical Engineering. In 1994 he joined Sprecher-Schuh, today GE Grid Solutions in Oberentfelden, Switzerland. He was active worldwide in the field of installation, commissioning and maintenance of High Voltage Switchgear for 5 years. During this period he became an expert in on- and off-line monitoring techniques and was leader of a circuit breaker monitoring project. Leading the design of the primary hardware of the Non-Conventional Instrument Transformers for GIS and the mechanical design of the Hybrid Drive were major task during 1999-2003. In 2002 he became head of Operating Mechanism Applications for High Voltage Switchgears within AREVA T&D. In 2004 he became head of GIS Testing and took over the responsible for all prototype- and type-testing of complete GIS arrangements up to 170kV. Since 2008 he is the manager of the GIS development in Switzerland. During his technical carrier within ALSTOM and today GE Grid Solutions company he was recognized as Specialist, Expert, Senior Expert and was finally nominated 2010 as Fellow within the Expert Organisation. He is member of the Swiss Cigré National Committee and of the Swiss IEC National Committee TC17A/C.
